Tree Hunt

On Saturday we traded the canoe for a Christmas tree. With a trailer full of brush behind Nick's truck, the canoe on top, and both of us plus both dogs piled into the cab, we were off. Once the canoe was tucked into its winter quarters at Nick's haunts in Lake Leelanau, we set out in search of a wild evergreen to harvest. We found plenty of contenders. Maisie, on a rare leash-free trial, had a blast - and even stayed with us (mostly)!
We finally chose one...
...and I had the honor of cutting it down using the family-heirloom bow saw from Nick's Swedish grandfather's workshop.Lovely! And now where is that Maisie-dog?
There she is!We loaded the tree into the truck, hauled it home, and put it up just in time for the howling blizzard that arrived Saturday night. Sunday was a perfect snow-day, cozy at home in front of the fire with twinkling lights all around.
