On the Shores of Burt Lake

Continuing the summer catchup, here's a report from mid-August: highlights from this year's annual family gathering (and a glimpse of the strange things my camera is doing).
The gang's all here! As usual, August brought the California relatives to Michigan, and all the Michigan relatives flocking to Burt Lake. A new job kept Deanne from joining us this year, but we hope a few rowdy phone calls from the crowd assured her that we missed her.

Little Maggie, age 3 months, was the star of the show. Of course!With some thirty years of such gatherings contributing to the weight of tradition, there were many forms of required recreation to fit in: cornhole, bike rides, walks and runs in the woods, swimming, sailing, kayaking, fishing (and frying of fish), lounging on the dock, reading in the hammock, sipping drinks on the porch, off-key singing around the player piano.
