Last spring, Nick and our farmer friend Marty put in an acre of sunflowers, planning to harvest the seeds and press them for oil. They're just outside of town, adjacent to
Marty's beans. This first year is an experiment more than anything. But it sure looked a success when we made a trip out to admire the fields in full flower a few weeks back!
On a golden Sunday afternoon, we set off toward the sunflowers, dogs happily galloping along beside us. A sea of cheerful yellow faces spread out almost as far as we could see.
We spent a little while checking out the developing seeds, but mostly we just basked in all the beauty.
