To follow the list of phenological data from my last post, here's another spring sign I just spotted. In a brown, snow-less front yard lay a forlorn little pile containing a woolen scarf, a hat, and a couple of sticks. Surely the remains of a jolly snowman, now melted away to nothing.
Nothing? Or maybe not. Maybe snowmen hibernate deep underground. Or migrate to the other side of the world, just in time for the onset of winter in the opposite hemisphere. Or maybe they get reincarnated each year in a slightly different form, until at last they reach the pinnacle and become . . . snow angels.
